PM Marković hosts leaders of Pljevlja: Partnership work towards even better development of municipality
Podgorica, Montenegro (17 November 2017) -- Congratulating the management and citizens of Pljevlja on the Municipality Day, Prime Minister Duško Marković expressed his willingness to define the modalities and find opportunities for improving the overall situation in the municipality of Pljevlja. Speaking with Mayor of Pljevlja Mirko Đačić, President of the Municipal Assembly Tarik Gadžović, and Deputy Mayor Anela Kriještorac, he said that it is necessary to create conditions in the partnership between the Municipality and the Government to improve the situation in the municipality of Pljevlja in terms of development, new employment and more intensive improvement of the living conditions of citizens.
Regarding the response to the current challenges regarding the financial situation in the municipality of Pljevlja, Prime Minister Marković announced the definition of a constructive solution that will mean overcoming the current situation, while emphasising the need to find a long-term solution in stabilising municipal finances.
Speaking about the natural and developmental resources available to the municipality of Pljevlja, the Prime Minister said that the state needs a different and better way to manage and use natural assets, declaring in that context the need to create more efficient models through the Public- Private Partnership Law and Law on Concessions.
"The support of the Government to the Municipality of Pljevlja is significant," Mirko Đaćić said, adding that large infrastructure facilities and facilities of social infrastructure in that municipality were built thanks to the support of the Government. Mayor Đačić said that 26 million euros was invested in the municipality of Pljevlja for last three years.
The meeting also discussed the ecological compensation. According to the Prime Minister's opinion, this issue must be carefully analysed and a sustainable and just solution must be devised, which will not be contested.
