Protection and Rescue Coordination Team, headed by Prime Minister Duško Marković, held a constitutive session, at which the Information on the Protection and Rescue System in Montenegro was presented and the information on wildfires during the summer season of 2017 was considered and adopted.
It was noted that during the summer fire season, which hit the entire northern coast of the Mediterranean, 3,125 wildfires broke out in Montenegro, as well as that the system reacted in a prescribed and predicted manner with a series of measures and activities, which, with extreme sacrifice of the people on the ground and international assistance, led to successful response to the catastrophic natural disaster while preserving human lives and strategic infrastructure as well as housing facilities.
The Coordination Team, analysing in detail all aspects of the summer fire season, made several decisions that individual subjects within the protection and rescue system are tasked to undertake the necessary measures and actions in precisely determined deadlines with the aim of better preparation for reaction in case of extreme weather conditions.
The Coordination Team estimated that it is appropriate to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the normative basis as well as practical solutions for the protection and rescue system with the aim of its further improvement and raising the level of efficiency.
The Head of the Coordination Team appointed Zorica Marković, Independent Adviser in the Directorate for Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as Secretary of the Team.
Protection and Rescue Coordination Team was appointed at the 36th Cabinet session, held on 27 July 2017.
