PM Marković meets with leadership of Municipality of Bar: Bar is example of good local government

Prime Minister Duško Marković met earlier today with President of the Municipality of Bar Zoran Srzentić, President of the Municipal Parliament Radomir Novaković and Municipal Manager Zoran Radojičić. Prime Minister Marković hosted delegation on the occasion of the Municipality's day and wished happy haliday to its leadership and citizens.

The Prime Minister noted that Bar has respectable personnel potential and that development projects are being implemented, as well as that there are plans for development in the upcoming period.

Although much has been done in the Municipality of Bar, that does not mean that there are no outstanding issues and we are willing to solve some of these challenges durig this year, PM Marković said, expressing the commitment to support development projects of fundamental importance in capital budget for the next year. Bar, with its potentials, is important for Montenegro's overall development, and the Government and the Municipality need to continuously work on improving the living conditions and opening up the development perspectives.

Mr Srzentić and his associates said that the atmosphere of optimism and positive energy was created in Bar, and that encouraging results were achieved in some areas. In the first nine months of this year, Bar visited 17 percent more tourists than in the same period last year, and recorded 16 percent more nights compared to the same period last year. In the current year, investments worth EUR 7,350,000 have been realised, over 20,000 square meters in the suburban and rural areas have been blacktopped.

Mr Srzentić emphasised that Bar's developmental commitment, in addition to tourism as a strategic branch, also includes the production of organic food and valorisation of the tourism potential of Skadar Lake.

PM Marković briefed Bars's leadership about encouraging results of government policy implementation. We have earned absolut trust of the international financial institutions. Affirmative cooperation with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank was established, credit rating is improved, as well as business environment. Serious investors are almost daily interested in investing in Montenegro. When summing up the results of this year's tourist season, we have real reasons to be satisfied at the end of the year. We have created conditions to improve our economy and raise the quality of life in Montenegro to a higher level, the Prime Minister said.
