PM Marković arrives in Budapest for China-CEEC Summit

Budapest, Hungary (27 November 2017) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković arrived in Budapest to take part in the 6th Summit of China and 16 countries of Central and Eastern Europe, taking place today in Budapest.

During the 16 + 1 Summit, Prime Minister Markovic will meet Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Keqiang, and host of the Summit, Prime Minister of Hungary Victor Orban.

Later on today, the Prime Minister will address the participants of the Summit.

The Summit will also be an opportunity for bilateral meetings of the Prime Minister of Montenegro with other leaders of the participating countries.

During the Summit, within the 16+1 Initiative, cooperation agreements in certain areas will be signed.

The 16 + 1 mechanism was officially launched at the First Summit of Heads of Government of the People's Republic of China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe in Warsaw in 2012.

Countries of Central and Eastern Europe involved in the project are the following: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.

Summits of heads of government take place once a year, as a rule in November or December. After Warsaw, Bucharest, Belgrade, Suzhou (China) and Riga, this year’s summit will be hosted by Budapest. Heads of government adopt a final document, commonly referred to as "guidelines".
