Minister Darmanović at OSCE Ministerial Council: There is no lasting stability and security without respect for human rights and rule of law and democracy

Austria (7 December 2017) -- At the Ministerial Meeting of the Organisation for
Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Minister of Foreign Affairs Srđan Darmanović said that there is no
lasting stability and security without respect for human rights and freedoms,
the rule of law and democracy.
"Montenegro
strongly supports all OSCE autonomous institutions, as custodians of principles
and values in the human dimension of the OSCE," Minister
Darmanović said, addressing the participants of the meeting.
Strengthening
the role of the OSCE in reducing conflicts, restoring confidence and combating
radicalisation is the main topic of this year's 24th Council of Ministers
meeting, which is being held today and tomorrow in Vienna.
Speaking
about the crisis in Ukraine, Minister Darmanović reiterated that the breakdown
of the armed conflict is crucial for further progress towards a sustainable
political solution, in line with the principles and values of the OSCE.
He
also praised the positive developments that have been made in Georgia, Moldova
and Azerbaijan, emphasising the importance of finding a peaceful solution in
these areas.
On the
margins of the Ministerial Council, Foreign Minister Darmanović held separate
meetings with DPMs and foreign ministers of Croatia and Moldova, Marija Pejčinović Burić and Andrei Galbur.
Minister
Darmanović also spoke with foreign ministers of Italy, Slovenia, the
Republic of Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Angelino Alfano, Karl
Erjavec, Nikola Dimitrov and Igor Crnadak.
On the
margins of the OSCE Ministerial Council, Minister Darmanović also met with Jan Haukaas, OSCE Special Adviser in
Vienna.
The OSCE
Ministerial Council was also attended by senior representatives of the United
Nations, the Council of Europe and NATO.
