Orhan Pamuk, PM Marković: In Turkey, even children know about Karadaǧ, I will definitely come again

Montenegro (15 December 2017) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković met today with Turkish writer, Nobel Prize winner Orhan Pamuk.
Expressing
satisfaction and honor that Montenegro hosted one of the greatest writers of
today, Prime Minister Marković sad that, as a reader of Pamuk's works, he was
personally honored with a meeting and a conversation.
“I am very glad that you are physically present in my country because you are already present here through your works and attitudes that match with what Montenegro is – a country that inherits an international and inter-religious harmony and mutual respect for people of different nations and religions,” Prime Minister Duško Marković said.
The
Turkish Nobel laureate stressed that he was convinced during his state in
Montenegro how popular he was, adding that when counting the number of his
books by the number of inhabitants – Montenegro is the country in which he is
the most represented, non counting Turkey.
The
Prime Minister informed his guest about the political, social and cultural
events in our country, about our integration into the European and
Euro-Atlantic systems, as well as about the rich cultural heritage and
tradition, mentioning the Crnojević Printing Press 1492, and Petar II Petrović
Njegoš, as a founder of the National Library of Montenegro in the first half of
XIX century and as a writer of universal messages of freedom and the widest
literary code.
Talking
about Montenegro and Turkey today, as well as about our common heritage, Prime
Minister Marković pointed to the quality and meaningful bilateral relations, as
well as strong and diverse economic, cultural and personal relations,
especially with regard to the numerous Montenegrin diaspora in the Republic of
Turkey.
Orhan Pamuk expressed his great satisfaction with the fact that he met Montenegro, saying that he was impressed with the inter-ethnic harmony. “In Turkey, even children know about Karadaǧ (Montenegro). I will definitely come again,” Turkish writer and Nobel laureate Orhan Pamuk said at the end of the meeting with the Prime Minister of Montenegro.
