PM Marković speaks with leadership of Capital City of Podgorica

Podgorica, Montenegro (18 December 2017) -- "Current local government in Podgorica has accomplished impressive resulted and you can count on the support of the Government in the coming period," said Prime Minister Duško Marković at the meeting with the leadership of the Capital City of Podgorica, which took place on the occasion of 19 December – Day of the Capital City.

PM Marković said he is encouraged by the fact that cooperation between the Government and the Capital City has significantly improved. Administrative procedures have advanced, the level of efficiency has been raised and a great deal of effort has been put in establishing a more functional system, he added.

"I am willing to take an active part in resolving important issues for Podgorica," said PM Marković, stressing that good results at the level of the Capital City and the State are the result of successful pursuing of the Government’s policies.

Representatives of the Capital City of Podgorica noted that the Government of Montenegro and the Capital City have established excellent cooperation, which resulted in the implementation of many successful projects and elimination of many bottlenecks. It is certain, the representatives of the Capital City stated, that without such successful cooperation the effects of the city’s administration would not be at the current level. Capital projects, as well as projects of utilities and social and social infrastructure, are being carried out. Cultural offer has been significantly upgraded. Mayor of Podgorica Slavoljub Stjepović stressed the fact that for the last three years more than 100 million euros have been invested on the territory of Podgorica.

Government and the Capital City of Podgorica have carried out several major projects, such as: a wastewater treatment plant, whose realization will cost about EUR 50 million, the bypass around Podgorica worth EUR 15 million, a boulevard worth about EUR 10 million, and the Old People’s home worth EUR 12 million. The synergy of cooperation between the Government and the Capital City will significantly improve the living conditions in Podgorica.

PM MarkoviĆ said that Podgorica will soon experience an unprecedented expansion. The construction of the motorway and some other roads will make Montenegro much more accessible, thus bringing considerable benefits to the country’s economy as well.

"In 2020, Podgorica will become a city of unimagined potentials," Prime Minister Duško Marković concluded and told the leadership of the Capital City that they should prepare for such a status in the near future.
