PM Marković meets representatives of Union of Free Trade Unions of Montenegro: Government is always ready for dialogue

Podgorica, Montenegro (26 December 2017) – With a view to upgrading mutual relations, the Government of Montenegro is willing to establish a social dialogue with the trade union, Prime Minister Duško Marković said at today’s meeting with the delegation of the Union of Free Trade Unions of Montenegro, headed by Secretary-General Srđan Keković.

Prime Minister Marković announced that in the coming period, the practice of considering results of the economic policy and making appropriate conclusions that will provide guidelines for action will be introduced.

"Government of Montenegro is strongly focused on economy and development in order to define the response to the challenges of reducing unemployment and improving living standards in Montenegro," said Prime Minister Marković.

He said that the only way to make progress is to encourage development of the economy, quickly and efficiently make the best use of the natural resources, improve the investment environment, raise the level of quality of the infrastructure, consolidate the energy sector and encourage local businesses.

"We are working hard on this and this is reflected through a very encouraging economic growth that is above expectations," Prime Minister Marković noted.

Representatives of the Union of Free Trade Unions of Montenegro spoke about the Economic Reform Programme, the issue of the providing space for the work of their organisation, as well as the issue of participation of their representatives in the Steering Committee of the Montenegrin Fund for Solidarity Housing. In that context, they reiterated their commitment to building Montenegro as a state of social justice.

Regarding the issue of providing business premises for the work of the Union of Free Trade Unions, Prime Minister Marković expressed readiness of the competent authorities to start finding a solution to this issue.

Participation of the Union of Free Trade Unions in the Steering Committee of the Montenegrin Solidarity and Housing Construction Fund remains to be addressed.
