Montenegro's police identify US Embassy attacker - D.J. born in1976

Podgorica, Montenegro (22 February 2018) -- Montenegro's Police identified the person who threw an explosive device at the US Embassy in Podgorica last night and then committed suicide by activating an explosive device, a press conference, which took place at the Police Authority earlier this afternoon, confirmed.

The person was identified as D.J. from Podgorica, born in 1976 in Kraljevo, Republic of Serbia, and was not registered as a perpetrator of criminal offenses.

The Prosecutor’s Office and the Police are taking active measures and actions in order to determine the motive of this act, which is currently unknown, the press conference stressed.

The Police confirmed that a flat of the person identified as an attacker on the US Embassy was searched and that detailed information cannot be disclosed in order to protect the investigation.

The Police thanked the US Embassy for cooperation and trust, once again confirming that its personnel are safe after the last night's incident.
