The Ministry of Science has continued its activities to implement the Framework Agreement for Strengthening National Participation in the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation – Horizon 2020 (2014–2020). The second visit of the EU expert team to Montenegro is taking place, focusing on support in the preparation of specific project proposals in the four priority areas of research: agriculture, food safety, human health and information and communication technologies.
As many as 16 institutions have applied with 25 project ideas to the call for support to development of specific project ideas, announced by the Ministry of Science on 13 February 2017.
After examining the submitted applications, pursuant to the criteria stated in the call for applications itself, the IBF expert team and the representatives of the Ministry of Science have decided to support the project proposals of the following institutions through Component 1: the Institute of Marine Biology – Kotor, the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Montenegro, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Montenegro, “13 Jul Plantaže” company, and BIO ICT Centre of Excellence. Through this project component, the institutions will receive support in preparing / improving specific project ideas, identifying appropriate calls, defining consortia, and preparing project budgets – all through direct cooperation with the EU experts.
Institutions that have not been selected for support through Component 1 will have the opportunity to participate in Component 2 of the Project, which includes general trainings for the specified research areas. The trainings will be implemented by the experts in the coming period, as of 27 March 2017. This component is intended for scientific research institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises, and the public administration, while the call for applications will be published on the official website of the Ministry of Science during the next week.
The Framework Agreement for Strengthening National Participation in Horizon 2020 is implemented within the framework of the European Union Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance to Montenegro (IPA), through the Human Resources Development Operational Programme 2012–2013, lasting 10 months and worth a total of EUR 299,000.00.
