Published on: Jun 19, 2017 • 11:28 PM Author: Ministry of Science
An information event dedicated to the development of innovations in Montenegro was held today, on 19 June, in the premises of Tehnopolis in Nikšić. Within the event, experience and knowledge were exchanged by the participants from the field of technologically based innovations from Montenegro – enterprises and research teams, guests from Serbia and Slovenia, as well as representatives of intermediary institutions – the Chamber of Commerce and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre Tehnopolis, the Ministry of Science and the Ministry of Economy.
The participants of the Info Day were welcomed through the opening address of Tehnopolis Executive Director, Ratko Bataković. At the very beginning of the programme, achievements in the commercialization of the results of research projects financed through the Ministry of Science programme HERIC (Higher Education and Research for Innovation and Competitiveness), with the focus on the results of the BIO-ICT Centre of Excellence, were presented by Saša Ivanović from the Ministry of Science.
Nenad Novović from Amplitudo company, which signed an agreement on cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering for commercialization of innovations from the BIO-ICT project, spoke about innovative ideas that progressed on the scale of technological readiness and approached the stage of market entry through joint efforts of the Faculty and the company.
For many participants of the event, this was a unique opportunity to hear about interesting ideas prepared during the three-year work of the team of researchers, including 15 young PhD and Master’s students.
Representatives of the Ministry of Science and the Ministry of Economy presented the possibilities of financing innovation through several instruments of the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation – Horizon 2020, SME Instrument, Future and Emerging Technologies and Fast Track to Innovation. Also, the financial programmes of the European Union and the Western Balkans Enterprise Development & Innovation Facility (WB EDIF) for investing venture capital into promising innovative companies and projects were presented.
In the second part of the day, guests from Technology Park Ljubljana, Ms. Tanja Lorger and Ms. Vesna Radunović, spoke about the way of life of enterprises that are tenants in the technology park and their internal organization.
Representatives of the innovative company “Swiftty” – Eleonora Sergijević and Ivan Hristić from the Science-Technology Park Belgrade have eventually explained their way to the successful use of the SME Instrument under the Horizon 2020 programme, through which they have made a plan for the introduction of disruptive innovation in the business of creating websites, after which they have applied for significantly larger grants to finance the project itself and enter the market.
Other topics have also been discussed, such as the need for the existence of a larger number of national instruments for supporting innovative business projects, the development of start-up culture, economic education that still does not adequately include the field of innovation and new economic models for the modern age.
Participants have received important information and expert recommendations on how to proceed in utilizing the potentials existing in scientific research organizations and how to build relationships with business.
It has been emphasized that it is necessary to listen to the market, to follow contemporary trends and to find an adequate connection between innovation and economy. In addition, it has been emphasized that it is of utmost importance that applications be complementary to the EU recommendations and standards, all in order to commercialize knowledge and products that should contribute to the community in the economic, social and cultural context.
The Info Day was primarily intended for tenants of Tehnopolis and other enterprises planning development based on technological innovations, as well as for the ministries, municipality and intermediary institutions.
Moderator of the Info Day was Branka Žižić, the National Coordinator for Horizon 2020 programme in the Ministry of Science.
