EBRD is hosting Western Balkans Investment Summit in London
London,
United Kingdom (26 February 2018) -- The Western Balkans Investment Summit
started at the headquarters of the European Bank for Reconstruction and
Development in London, where the prime ministers of the six Western Balkan countries
will present from the highest level the investment and business opportunities
of their countries in the context of attracting foreign direct investment and
cooperation in cross-border projects.
Prime Ministers of the six Western Balkans countries (Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina) – Ana Brnabić, Ramush Haradinaj, Edi Rama, Zoran Zaev and Denis Zvizdić will participate in the central session, while special panel discussions will discuss topics related to the traffic connections between the six Western Balkans countries, a sustainable regional energy model and the agenda of so-called “soft linking”.
The Summit
will be opened by EBRD President Suma Chakrabati and Bulgaria's Prime Minister
Boyko Borisov, as the country currently presiding over the European Union. UK
secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sports Matt Hancock will
address the participants of the Summit, as well.
As part
of the Summit, PM Marković will sign the Memorandum of Understanding between
the Government of Montenegro and the European Bank for Reconstruction and
Development, which should provide a framework for cooperation between the
Government and the EBRD in the development and implementation of the Investment
Climate Initiative and management with the aim of improving the development of
the private sector, promotion of good governance,strengthening of competition,
improvement of public and private sector dialogue.
Montenegro's
delegation also includes finance and economy ministries, Darko Radunović and
Dragica Sekulić.
This is
the third Summit sponsored by the EBRD. The previous two were held in 2014 and
2016.
