PM Marković, EBRD President sign Memorandum of Understanding: Basis for progress of Montenegro in improving governance and strengthening investment climate and private sector

Prime Minister Duško Marković and President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Suma Chakrabarti signed today in London a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Montenegro and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The document represents the basis of the framework for cooperation between the Government and the EBRD in the development and implementation of the Investment Climate and Governance Initiative aimed at improving the private sector development, promoting good governance, strengthening competition, strengthening public and private sector dialogue, etc.

PM Marković and President Chakrabarti agreed that the Memorandum represents an excellent basis for deepening the good cooperation between Montenegro and the EBRD, as well as the basis for further valorization of development potential of our country and its attractiveness to investors.

The Prime Minister thanked the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for its support to Montenegrin economy, pointing out that EBRD is our partner in important infrastructure projects and that it supports domestic and foreign companies.

President Chakrabarti expressed his support to Montenegro, congratulating on NATO membership and huge progress and leadership in the process of European integration.

During my mandate in the EBRD, Montenegro made incredible progress in regional cooperation. You play an important role in that plan and you have very good results, EBRD President said to PM Marković.

The EBRD representatives have expressed their readiness to continue working with Montenegro to detect other areas in which two sides could cooperate.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of Finance Darko Radunović and Minister of Economy Dragica Sekulić.
