Minister of Science Dr. Sanja Damjanović will present today, within the diplomatic briefing of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Montenegro Prof. Dr. Srdjan Darmanović with Ambassadors in Montenegro, the status of the Initiative for the Establishment of an International Scientific Institute for Sustainable Technologies in South East Europe, as well as the following steps for the realization of this regional project.

Diplomatic briefing "Montenegro's EU Integration", which will be held at Villa Gorica at 10:30 am, will be attended by about twenty ambassadors.

Minister Damjanović, in direct contact with ambassadors, will discuss the importance of establishing a large scientific research infrastructure, as well as economic, political and social benefits for the countries of the Region.
We recall that the Government of Montenegro is the first which officially supported the Initiative for the Establishment of an International Institute in late March 2017, only a few months after the Initiative was originally proposed by Professor Hervig Soper, former Director General of CERN.

The Declaration of Intent was signed on October 25, 2017 in CERN by the eight countries of the Region. In January 2018, Forum was held at the ICTP International Institute in Trieste, where for the first time the idea was presented for two proposed options of the institute (Hadron's cancer therapy and the fourth generation of the Synthrotron radiation source). More than 100 participants took part in the Forum, including the European Commission's High Representative (Robert Jan Smits, the second research and innovation man), the IAEA, the RCC, the President of a significant EU body, the ESFRI (European Strategic Forum for Scientific Infrastructure), and high representatives of the scientific community.
