Protection of children is most important obligation of Montenegrin society
Montenegrin society has no more relevant obligation than the highest level of protection of children against all forms of violence, it was concluded at today's meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister Zoran Pažin with the representatives of the Supreme Court, the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office and the Association "Parents".
Deputy Prime Minister Pažin welcomed the initiative of the Association ''Parents'', as well as the readiness of the Supreme Court and the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office to contribute, in cooperation with the Government of Montenegro, to strengthening the ability of the entire society to recognize and prevent threats to children and to condemn the perpetrators of crimes against children in the strongest terms of penalties.
The meeting identified the indisputable need and concrete modalities for strengthening the legal protection of children through changes in the current regulatory framework and the improvement of the practice of the competent authorities.
DPM Pažin announced that the Ministry of Justice will introduce a special register of perpetrators of criminal offenses against sexual freedom to minors. Furthermore, by amending the relevant laws, it will be ensured that the certificate from this register is a necessary condition for the establishment of employment in all activities in the public, private or civil sector in which employees are in direct contact with children.
Moreover, interlocutors agreed that there is a space in domestic criminal legislation for stronger protection of children from all forms of violence, through stricter penalties for perpetrators, on the one hand, and preventing the deprivation of these crimes on the other.
Deputy Prime Minister Pažin announced that he has ordered detailed analyzes of domestic legislation and comparative practices in the field of criminal justice protection against child abuse.
''After that, together with representatives of the civil sector, the judiciary and the prosecution will prepare appropriate legal solutions that will provide additional mechanisms for the protection of children from all forms of violence and a more severe punishment for perpetrators," underline Deputy Prime Minister Pažin.
