Podgorica, Montenegro (23 March 2018) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković expressed satisfaction with GDP growth of 4.4% in 2017, noting that the highest growth rate in the region and among the highest ones in Europe is a remarkable result of the Government's economic policy, emphasising that he expects this trend to continue in 2018 as well...

Prime Minister’s statement:

’’Dear citizens of Montenegro,

Statistical Office of Montenegro (MONSTAT) issued earlier today official data on economic growth in Montenegro in 2017.

The growth rate of 4.4% is an excellent result of the Government in terms of the economic policy implementation.

This is the highest growth rate in the region.

It is twice the growth rate in the European Union and the highest among the EU countries.

I would like to say that these are the key results of the Government we would like to continue in 2018 with the aim of increasing economic growth, thus creating new jobs and employing people.

The growth rate deserves my attention from the aspect of the role of the state administration and their commitment and motivation. At the same time, it is also an opportunity to thank all stakeholders in Montenegro, especially companies and employers who have worked with the Government to achieve this goal.

Therefore, I want to send a message that given this result in 2018, all of us - the Government, the business community and the administration, have the additional motivation to make additional efforts in order to ensure this trend to continue, thus encouraging the development and living standards of citizens in Montenegro.’’
