Session of National Security Council
Session of National Security Council
Podgorica,
Montenegro (4 April 2018) -- The National Security Council, chaired by Prime
Minister Duško Marković, held today its 13th session which, in addition to the members of the Council, was attended by the
Supreme State Prosecutor, the Chief Special Prosecutor, the Acting Director of
the Police Directorate and the Head of the Criminal Police Department.
The
Council welcomed the prompt and effective detection and arrest of perpetrators
and co-perpetrators of serious crimes committed last week – the double murder
and the activation of an explosive device near the house of journalist in
Bijelo Polje – and on that occasion reiterated the commitment of institutions
to continue their efforts in the fight against the activities of organised
criminal groups, and especially their providers.
The
newly-formed specialised teams composed of representatives of the Prosecutor's
Office, the Police Department and other bodies have a clear task – to be a step
ahead of every criminal purpose.
The
Council supports and encourages all members of the intelligence and security
sector, representatives of the Prosecutor's Office and the Judiciary to prevent
and prosecute all those who are attacking the safety and security of citizens.
President
of the National Security Council, Prime Minister Duško Marković, said that the
current moment requires not only the work of institutions in accordance with
their regular legal obligations, pointing out that at the moment when the State
is fighting against organised crime, all must provide an additional and more
powerful contribution to protect every citizen and his family.
“Citizens of our country must not bear the consequences of
criminal vortex and clan conflicts. We will seek them at every level of the
territory of Montenegro, and the task of the Council is to find them in legal
procedure wherever they are, and abroad,” the Prime Minister said.
