Prime Minister Duško Marković arrived in Slovenia to participate in the Summit of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) in Brdo near Kranj.

Prime Ministers of Slovenia Miroslav Cerar, Bulgaria Boyko Borisov, Croatia Andrej Plenković, Kosovo Ramush Haradinaj, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdić, as well as top officials from Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Moldova, Romania, Greece and Turkey are also attending the Summit.

The Summit will exchange views on current developments in South East Europe in the context of regional cooperation, as well as the progress made by the SEE countries in European integration, and appoint the Secretary-General of the Regional Cooperation Centre, the body of the SEECP.

According to the previously agreed agreement, the candidates of Montenegro Igor Lukšić and Albania Majlinda Bregu should be appointed to this position. The candidate of Albania should perform this duty from 2019 to 2021, and the candidate of Montenegro from 2022 to 2024.

The Summit was preceded by the Ministerial Meeting of the SEECP and the Annual Meeting of the Regional Cooperation Centre.

The South East Europe Cooperation Process is a regional cooperation framework established in June 1996 with the aim of promoting and strengthening good neighbourly relations between SEE countries.

The members of the SEECP are Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Slovenia, Serbia, Turkey and Kosovo.

Following today's Summit, Bosnia and Herzegovina will take over SEECP presidency from Slovenia.
