Minister Sekulić to open CEFTA Conference
Minister of Economy Dragica Sekulić will open the conference "Trade Facilitation in the CEFTA Region to the Common EU Market", which will be held tomorrow at the Hilton Hotel, starting at 9 am.
Apart from the Minister Sekulić, the conference will be opened by the President of Montenegro Chamber of Commerce (PKCG) Vlastimir Golubović and the Director of the CEFTA Secretariat, Emir Đikić.
Within the conference, three panels will be held: "International legal framework for trade facilitation", "Challenges in cross-border trade in the CEFTA region" and "Towards a common EU market", in which representatives of the World Bank, the European Commission, Chamber of Commerce of the Region, CEFTA Secretariat, GIZ, National Committee for Relief of Montenegro, Customs Administration of our country, Moldova, Serbia, food safety authorities of Montenegro and Macedonia, EU SEED project.
The conference will present the obligations stipulated by the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement, Additional Protocol 5 to CEFTA 2006, as well as those from the EU integration process. The aim is to point out the importance of improving economic relations in the region, especially in the area of simplification and harmonization of documents and procedures at border crossings.
Recalling and recognizing the need to facilitate trade or trade in goods across borders, the signatory to the CEFTA 2006 Agreement adopted the Additional Protocol 5 on 26 May 2017. Its application means that the provisions of the Trade Facilitation Agreement will be binding on those CEFTA signatories not yet members of the World Trade Organization.
