Podgorica, Montenegro (26 April 2018) -- Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Financial System Milutin Simović told the business community of our country today that the Government, through a partnership with the business community, creates a good business environment as a condition for successful business and achievement of the key economic goals of the Government – economic growth and job creation.

"Our public sector must be responsible, efficient and flexible in meeting the needs of both the economy and the citizens. All our public policies ultimately aim at economic growth, new jobs, a higher standard of living and more resources for education, health, culture, sports and assistance to those who need it," DPM Simović said today at the awarding ceremony of the Association of Montenegrin Managers.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that we have managed to achieve a number of ambitious goals in the demanding reform process.

"We have provided long-term stability of public finances, by responsible and decisive implementation of fiscal consolidation measures. We have provided conditions for accelerated implementation of capital development projects and, at the same time, we have achieved economic growth, which is among the largest in Europe. With NATO membership, we have become part of the most advanced global security system. Therefore, the security of investment and business in Montenegro has become our strategic advantage. This is also supported by the inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI), which grows year after year," the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted.

DPM Simović reiterated that the world recognised the activities with which our country improved the business environment, such as the advancement of 9 places on the World Bank Doing Business list, and 15 places on the Heritage Foundation Index, as well as on the lists of specialised agencies that measure the credit rating.

Speaking about challenges, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the special challenges for our companies and managers will be to increase the substitution of import and to increase the export provided by the international market for goods and services from Montenegro. He added that the Government will continue to dedicate itself to the development of entrepreneurship and improvement of the business environment in which even better conditions for the progress of companies will be achieved.

"We will continue, together with you, to build a society in which everyone will have the opportunity to succeed, in which hard work is rewarded, and the assistance available to those who need it. In this demanding job, all segments of the society must contribute: both the public and the private sector, the scientific community and the civil sector. Energy and responsibility of all is needed, in order to make progress for the benefit of the entire society and all citizens," DPM Simović said today.
