PM Marković hosts Dr. Ralph de la Torre: Leading US private hospital operator ready to expand operations in Montenegro

Prime Minister Duško Marković hosted Dr. Ralph de la Torre, Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Steward Health Care System, the largest US private hospital operator.

The Prime Minister pointed out the need for Montenegro to accelerate the systematic improvement of the healthcare system in the shortest possible period in order to provide citizens with health services at the highest level. This need is further enhanced by the record increase in the arrival of foreign tourists, the upcoming opening of hotel capacities of renowned international companies and the growing interest of respectable investors for investments in our country, it was concluded at the meeting.

The CEO of Steward Health Care System, who is the leader in implementing the integrated healthcare model in the United States of America, positively assessed Montenegro's investment potential and expressed willingness to partner with the Government to improve the efficiency and quality of the country's healthcare system.

The Steward Health Care System, based in Boston, employs around 40,000 people and has income of about eight billion dollars a year. About twelve million patients are receiving health care in 38 hospitals and 26 emergency departments.

Dr. Ralph de la Torre announced that he will soon visit Montenegro again in order to continue talks on the currently agreed modalities of cooperation.

Minister of Health Kenan Hrapović also attended the meeting.
