Minister Bogdanović pays visit to Holy See: More intensive cooperation with Holy See and Vatican Archives
Minister of Culture Aleksandar Bogdanović met with Under-Secretary for the Holy See's relations with states Antoine Camilleri, during the second day of his stay in Rome.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador of Montenegro to the Holy See and Sovereign Maltese Order Miodrag Vlahović.
Minister Bogdanović stressed that Montenegro is committed to strengthening tolerance and fostering diversity, and that multicultural, multireligious and multiethnic harmony is one of the greatest wealth of our country.
It was discussed about the cooperation that Montenegro and the Holy See had achieved in the field of culture. It was emphasised that the continuation of joint projects is extremely important and, in that sense, the readiness of the two sides to further intensify the cooperation is expressed.
The interlocutors expressed special satisfaction with the planned historic visit of Cardinal Parolin to Montenegro, on 28 and 29 June, hosted by Prime Minister Duško Marković. They emphasised that this event would be an additional incentive to our traditionally friendly relations.
Monsignor Camilleri confirmed the interest of the Holy See to open the Nunciature in Montenegro and expressed the belief that in the coming months the location of the facility will be defined.
During the visit to the Holy See, Minister Bogdanović met with Director of the Vatican Archives.
Minister Bogdanović expressed the interest of the State Archive of Montenegro and scientific and research institutions for access to documents held by the Vatican Archives, which may be of importance for the research and documentation of the history of Montenegro.
The Director expressed readiness of the Vatican Archives to give Montenegro the approach to digital library and archive of the Holy See and expressed satisfaction that the cooperation of the two countries in this plan will be further strengthened.
The interlocutors proposed the signing of a memorandum of understanding that would define more precisely all aspects of future cooperation and plan for joint projects of the two sides.
Minister Bogdanović visited the Vatican Archives, where he was able to see a part of the Archives in which the original copy of the Concordat between Montenegro and the Holy See from 1886 was kept in a prominent place.
