Prime Minister Markovic opens renovated Hotel Riviera: Government has development strategy, projects worth 3 billion euros
Prime Minister Duško Marković said on Friday evening, opening the renovated Hotel Riviera in Njivice, that the Government has a clear strategy for sustainable economic development, the tourist record year has shown that we are able to turn our development potential into the benefit of citizens and expect even better results since we already have contracted deals of EUR 3 billion in capital projects of Montenegrin tourism.
"Montenegro has a clear strategy for its development - accelerated and economically sustainable development. We have shown this in the previous year. We have shown that we are capable of turning our potentials and our values into the common good of the country and turning it into the benefit of our citizens "- said the Prime Minister at a ceremony organized to mark the opening of the renovated Riviera Hotel in Njivice.
Addressing the official speeches, PM Marković expressed satisfaction with the fact that Montenegrin tourism continues to develop successfully and once with such an impressive investment that represents a new value for the whole of Montenegro, enriches its tourist offer and gives new opportunities for new investments and new jobs.
The Prime Minister thanked the administration of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism and others who have managed to issue more than 60 building permits for new hotels, mostly those with four or five stars, in the past two years, and thus provide an investment of more than 400 million euros.
"Today in Montenegro we have contracted jobs in capital tourist capacities worth billions of euros," said the Prime Minister. He added that in the upcoming period the Government will continue to create a favorable business environment in order to make the results even better.
"I do not want to be selfish at this solemn moment stressing out this success is solely attributed to the Government and its administration. This is the success of every traveler in Montenegro. Iberostar and Montenegro Hotels Group of Mr. Branko Čupić, as well as many other tourist companies contributed to this success. That this is what the results show in the first three to four months. Our tourism turnover grows over 20 percent. "said Prime Minister Duško Marković.
The Prime Minister stressed out in Montenegro we are no longer talking about record years from the end of the eighties, because we recorded this record last year, and data from the beginning of this year show that the results could be even better in 2018.
"Thank you for this collaboration, on that solidarity. The government will, of course, succeed in using this opportunity in the best way, " underlined the Prime Minister adding that Montenegro has resources and that it should be made even people's lives more beautiful and better" - concluded the Prime Ministe Marković.
Iberostar founder Miguel Fluxa Rosselló expressed his satisfaction that he was able to open the renovated Hotel Riviera and announced new investments in Montenegrin tourism, saying that his goal was to create a five star hotel, which the guests will not be able to forget.
"We believe that this country has many opportunities in tourism," said Miguel Fluxà Rosselló, adding that tourism is an economic branch that can be successfully developed and that brings new jobs.
"I am very happy that I was in this business because my job is to make people happy and there is nothing better in the world than making people happy," said the founder of Iberostar. He added that the goal is to realize in Montenegro what is happening in the hotels of the Iberostar Group, which is that the guests are returning.
"In our hi-tech, 42 % are those who return, which is what is best," said Miguel Fluxà Rosselló.
Hotel Rivijera, with 190 rooms, has been co-owned by Iberostar and Montenegro Hotels, which operates within the hotel group Iberostar since last summer.
The hotel group Iberostar owns more than 100 hotels with 33,500 rooms in 30 countries and more than 40 destinations around the world, including the Hotel Riviera in Njivice.
A group that employs around 27,000 people annually generates more than two billion euros of turnover. Miguel Fluxà Rosselló is 581 on the Forbes list, and in Spain, a fourth of a fortune estimated at 4.4 billion euros.
Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism Pavle Radulović, Minister of Economy Dragica Sekulić and Minister of Culture Aleksandar Bogdanović attended the ceremonial opening.
