DPM Simović to take part in first ministerial conference on occasion of World Bee Day
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Milutin Simović will take part in ministerial conference on the occasion of the first celebration of the World Bee Day – 20 May. The conference will be held this weekend in Brdo near Kranj in Slovenia.
The initiative to set up the World Bee Day on 20 May, due to the importance of bees as pollinators for the survival of nature and vulnerability of the bee population on a global scale, originated from Slovenia. Montenegro was one of the first countries to support this initiative, which was adopted late last year at the UN General Assembly in New York.
The theme of the ministerial conference, which will be held on Saturday, 19 May, is the importance of bees and other pollinators for sustainable agriculture and food safety.
The gathering will bring together ministers and other high representatives from 40 countries, representatives of the European Commission, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), other international organizations, as well as representatives of beekeeping associations from EU countries and all over the world.
