Minister of the Interior, Mevludin Nuhodzić, participated today at the Ministerial Conference of the Brdo Process, at Brdo kod Kranja, which was opened by the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor.
The topic of this year's Conference was the fight against human trafficking. Minister Nuhodžić particularly emphasized the need for a harmonized and synchronized response from the countries of the region to the problem of human trafficking, through the advancement of a proactive system of detecting human trafficking cases and joint investigative teams. He also emphasized the importance of raising awareness, providing protection and support to victims of human trafficking, and strengthening the cooperation of relevant institutions and civil society organizations towards more effectively preventive action.
In that regard, Minister Nuhodzic announced that special investigative actions contribute to a more successful fight against the most complex forms of organized crime and terrorism. He said he expects that the consistent application of new techniques and methods will result in more intense police-prosecutorial cooperation, which is of a great importance for the realization of the priorities defined in the recently published EU Enlargement Strategy for the Western Balkan.
During the meeting of the EU Committee of the Initiative for Internal Security Management in the field of internal security, the ministers of the interior expressed support for the activities planned in the action plans for the fight against terrorism and violent extremism, serious and organized crime and border management.
