Nuhodžić: Human Trafficking - a growing form of organized crime at a global level that violates human rights

Montenegro shows a strong commitment to cooperating in addressing the problem of human trafficking and all other forms of crime, Minister Nuhodzić announced at the opening of a seminar on the fight against human trafficking that Budva. In addition to the Minister, in the introductory part, the Head of the EU Delegation in Montenegro, Ambassador Aivo Orav and Peter Van der Auverart, Coordinator of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for the Western Balkans addressed the audience.
The Minister informed that a special organizational unit was formed in the Police Directorate dealing with the suppression of smuggling and human trafficking and illegal migration, focusing on enhanced identification of victims and potential victims of human trafficking.
He also emphasized that the Ministry of the Interior is committed to dealing with criminal groups and individuals who recruit young people, primarily children, but also sexually and otherwise exploit other persons. To this end, he added that he will continue with the continuous implementation of preventive and repressive measures, with the strengthening of cooperation and coordination.
The Minister concluded that all social actors should be united - the competent state authorities, NGOs and the media, in order to improve the reaction of society towards all forms of crime, in particular human trafficking, by joining forces.
Ambassador Aivo Orav remarked that the capacity of the country to prevent and counter human trafficking and protect the victim is an important condition in the process of joining the European Union, and expressed the expectation that Montenegro will demonstrate its ability to fight this problem.
Peter Van der Auverart, coordinator of the International Organization for Migration for the Western Balkans, emphasized the importance of strengthening regional cooperation in the field of fight against human trafficking.
The training was organized within the TAIEX expert mission to fight human trafficking, in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration, with a focus on identification, investigation and prosecution.
