Pljevlja, Montenegro (25 May 2018) -- At the press conference after the opening of the reconstructed Culture Centre in Pljevlja, Prime Minister Duško Marković pointed out that this is one of the most impressive buildings of social infrastructure in Montenegro, possibly even in the region.

"I believe that the time we have been waiting for, it lasted about ten years, was justified, and today we have a lasting value for the city of Pljevlja, for the citizens of Pljevlja, for artists, for cultural creators, for young people, but we also have a lasting value for Montenegro," the Prime Minister said.

He expressed the belief that Pljevlja will benefit from this Centre on quality, attractiveness, improvement of its cultural and overall values, but also that it will be able to turn it into a new quality for the citizens and a city.

As Prime Minister Marković pointed out, tourism, natural wealth, cultural heritage of Pljevlja come to the scene with this Cultural Centre; this is no longer a story, but the creation of a new value.

Mayor of the Municipality of Pljevlja Mirko Đačić stated that this is a great day for Pljevlja, and expressed his belief that the opening of the Cultural Centre, as significant cultural institution, will improve social life, and enable the first steps in the development of tourism in Pljevlja. He noted that reconstruction of the facility cost EUR 5 million, and works in final stage were contracted in the amount of EUR 1.037.000,00.

Answering the journalists' question whether he thinks that established special police teams are enough, or the idea of introducing new measures to ensure citizens' safety at a higher level is being considered, Prime Minister Marković said that the Government will do everything to ensure that the citizens are safe.

The Prime Minister said that the state is dealing with crime, whether the criminal groups are from Montenegro or the region, America or Europe. "Now, they have a problem with the State. The State will solve this problem using all available means that belong to a democratic society in order that this society is safe and secure," PM Marković said.

Asked whether the help in the fight against crime would be sought from the foreign services, the Prime Minister stated that the instigators of liquidation in Montenegro are abroad and that they will ask the European partners to cooperate because this is not only domestic, but a wider problem.
