EU External Borders Expert Mission to pay visit to Montenegro

EU External Borders Expert Mission will pay visit to Montenegro from 25 to 29 June. The mission, like previous years, will be led by an independent expert from Finland.

During their stay in Montenegro, the members of the expert mission will hold a series of meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Interior and the Border Police Sector in order to assess the progress made by Montenegro in the field of harmonisation with the EU acquis in the area of Integrated Border Management, all in the context of meeting temporary benchmarks in this area.

In the light of recent migration movements and possible security challenges, the mission will visit the border crossings with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo and discuss the issue of cooperation between Montenegro and neighbouring countries regarding border control and security.
