Minister Damjanović meets with EC Commissioner for Science and Innovation Moedas: Financial support for SEEIIST project announced

Minister of Science Sanja Damjanović met today with Commissioner for Science and Innovation Carlos Moedas, with whom she discussed financial support for a regional project - Establishment of the South-East European International Institute for Sustainable Technologies (SEEIIST).

During today's meeting, Commissioner Moedas expressed European Commission's strong support for the project and announced that the Commission will soon come out with the formula for stage financing of this project.

The South East Europe Region is extremely important for us and the SEEIIST project will have our full support in the coming period. This is a great example that deserves our attention and I will personally engage to get a clear funding formula for the next three-year period by the end of this year, Moedas said.

Minister Damjanović said that she was glad that she had the opportunity to meet again with the Commissioner, referring to the first meeting in May last year, when she first presented the Initiative for the establishment of the Institute.

Today, after a year, this is no longer just an idea, but a serious project and the EC support is very important to us. We discussed concrete measures and instruments on how the Commission can support this project, i.e. the second phase, which involves the development of a technical business plan, and we look forward to having an open support from the Commissioner and the European Commission, Minister Damjanović said.
