Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin arrives in Montenegro for official visit

Cardinal Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin arrived in Montenegro for an official visit.

The Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković welcomed Cardinal Parolin in Podgorica, with the highest state honours.

The tête-à-tête talks between Prime Minister Marković and Cardinal Parolin are ongoing, followed by official Montenegrin-Vatican talks.

Prime Minister Marković and Cardinal Parolin will address the public at the end of the official talks this afternoon.

Cardinal Parolin will meet today with President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović, while tomorrow he will meet with President of the Parliament of Montenegro Ivan Brajović and Minister of Culture Aleksandar Bogdanović.

The official talks between the top officials of Montenegro and the Holy See will be an opportunity to further deepen the excellent bilateral relations that share the fundamental civilizational values of peace and justice. Relations between Montenegro and the Vatican date back to 1886 when the Concordat between Montenegro and the Holy See was signed.

The Cardinal Secretary of State will visit Cetinje on Thursday, serve the holy Mass in the Cathedral of the Holy Heart of Jesus in Podgorica, and speak with clergy and believers in the Church of St. Anthony in Tuzi.

Cardinal Parolin will serve holy Mass on Saturday in the Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle in Bar and Cathedral of St. Tryphon in Kotor.
