PM Marković hosts Masdar company's management: One of global leaders in green energy production interested in investing
Podgorica, Montenegro (28 June 2018) -- Masdar, one of the global leaders in the field of renewable energy production, is interested in investing in Montenegro, the company's Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi and Director for South-East Europe Region Ahmed Al-Awadi told earlier today Prime Minister Duško Marković.
Expressing his satisfaction with the fact that Masdar joined renowned world companies that invested or seriously considered investing in Montenegro, Prime Minister Marković spoke about excellent economic results of the Government in 2017 and 2018, stressing that energy, in addition to tourism, infrastructure and agriculture, is one of the strategic areas for making the best use of the country's resources. The Prime Minister informed the Masdar management about this year's growth in the energy sector in Montenegro and resolving issues within the Electric Power Industry (EPCG), which, with the forthcoming launch of an undersea energy cable between Montenegro and Italy, will position the country well on the European energy map.
"We have consolidated our energy sector so that the EPCG can be a good and reliable partner for investors in this area. We have all the conditions for cooperation: trust and understanding and interest to develop concrete projects. Because of all this, and because of the renown and knowledge you bring to Montenegro, we are interested in your company's expressing interest in th energy projects such as the construction of power plants on Morača and Komarnica rivers," the Prime Minister stressed.
The representatives of the Masdar expressed satisfaction with the current operations in Montenegro, saying that after the agreement on taking over half of the ownership of the Krnovo Wind Power Plant from the French partner Akio, they gained good working experience in our country.
"Our prospective investments can open doors to investors in other areas," the Chief Executive Officer of Masdar said.
The meeting also discussed the project for the construction of the Solar Power Plant Briska Gora in Ulcinj, as well as the green city project this company has developed in the United Arab Emirates using modern technologies in building an environmentally advanced and energy efficient settlement.
