Published on: Jun 21, 2018 • 9:09 PM Author: Ministry of Science
The fourth workshop within the Entrepreneurial Discovery Process (EDP), which was attended by the working group for the agriculture sector, took place today in the premises of the Ministry of Science.
Besides the representatives of the Ministry, the workshop was moderated by the consultants for Entrepreneurial Discovery Process, Ms. Marjana Majerič, Assistant General Manager at Technology Park Ljubljana, and Mr. Aleš Pevc, Project Management Consultant at the Park.
The meeting was attended by about thirty representatives of the state administration, academic, economic and civil sectors: Ministry of Agriculture, Centre for Ecotoxicological Research, University of Montenegro – Biotechnical Faculty, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre Tehnopolis from Nikšić, Chamber of Economy of Montenegro, dairies “Lazine” and “Srna”, and companies “Inpek”, “Ekoplant”, “Nikšić Mill”, “Mesopromet”, “Bonela”, “Višnjić-Komerc”, “13. jul Plantaže”, “Farmont” and “Eco-Per. d.o.o.”
The workshop was an ideal opportunity for participants to exchange views and experiences, as well as the challenges encountered in practice. When it comes to agriculture, it was stated that it was necessary to make an adequate connection with other sectors, which had previously been defined as priority sectors within the EDP process, such as the use of information and communication technologies with a view to modernize and strengthen the innovation capacities of this sector.
The participants discussed the strengthening of organic agriculture, the use of biodegradable waste for energy production, and the exploitation of potentials such as medicinal herbs. In this context, the steps that need to be taken in order to strengthen this sector were considered, such as awareness-raising about domestic production, provision of additional investments, investment in rural infrastructure and improving the capacity of laboratories. The participants particularly emphasized great potential in organic production and water resources of Montenegro.
In addition, it was concluded that it was necessary to create partnerships among producers in order to achieve better market success and business sustainability, as well as to provide additional investments in production capacities and to strengthen education among young people.
The participants agreed that the most adequate name for this priority area was sustainable food production.
The fifth workshop within the Entrepreneurial Discovery Process, in which the group for construction and metal industry sector will take part, will be held tomorrow in the premises of the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro at 10 am.
