The third meeting (workshop) of sectoral working groups, which form part of the Entrepreneurial Discovery Process – EDP, initiated by Montenegro on 11 May this year, took place today within the sectoral working group for ICT.
Besides the team of the Ministry of Science, the meeting was also moderated by the consultants for Entrepreneurial Discovery Process, Ms. Marjana Majerič, Assistant General Manager at Technology Park Ljubljana, and Mr. Aleš Pevc, Project Management Consultant at the Park, who familiarized the participants with the process of preparing the Smart Specialization Strategy and expressed their satisfaction with active participation of the academic and economic sector in the process.
The meeting was attended by about thirty representatives from the following institutions: University of Montenegro – Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and BIO-ICT, Chamber of Economy of Montenegro, MTEL, ČIKOM, NAVIRA ITS, Cho Dex Studio, Telenor, “CHIP” DOO, MTEL – DIGITAL FACTORY, URBIS DOO, EDUKACIJA, WIN soft, AMPLIRUDO, S&T CG, NESPA CONPUTERS, FLEKA DOO, Montenegrin Telecom, STUDIO LASSO, MONTEX ELEKTRONIKA, and Data Design DOO, who had a chance to exchange opinions and ideas on the areas of development in the ICT sector.
The participants expressed their view that companies had significant potential that was important to develop, with adequate legal solutions. Potentials were identified in investing in start-ups, improving product quality for networking with clusters, shifting from traditional software to modern, and in financial technology. The importance of this area in the context of environment was especially stressed.
It was also noted that ICT produced a synergistic effect in all areas identified as potential in the development of the S3 strategy, especially in the areas of tourism, agriculture and energy. Because of the above, the most important conclusion of the workshop was that the ICT sector had to be horizontally positioned.
Finally, it was agreed that representatives from the field of ICT would be present at all forthcoming workshops, including those related to other potential sectors of the strategy.
