Bureau for coordination of intelligence and security sector activities requests continuation, strengthening of cooperation in combating organised crime

Podgorica, Montenegro (2 July 2018) -- At today's 10 th session of the Bureau for Operational Coordination of the Activities of the Intelligence and Security Sector, Minister of the Interior Mevludin Nuhodžić noted  that it is necessary for all competent state institutions to continue to strengthen joint activities in combating organised crime, especially in terms of preventing possible detection of unresolved serious crimes.

"IWhen it comes to the fight against crime that is tough and complex, we will be persistent in order to work together, in a coordinated manner. In that regard, it is necessary to permanently make additional efforts to improve the human, material and technical resources of key institutions for ensuring the rule of law. By strengthening the capacity of the law enforcement authorities, we strengthen the security of the State and its citizens. Our results are indisputable, but the recent murder in Bar warns that we need to be even stronger," Minister Nuhodžić stressed.

Today's meeting noted that the special investigation teams of the Prosecutor's Office and the Police, set up in line with the conclusions of the National Security Council, have achieved good results in the prevention and detection of perpetrators of criminal offenses. In order to more efficiently counter crime, actions have been taken towards strengthening inter-institutional coordination, exchanging information and enhancing intelligence, including more intensive cooperation with citizens. The meeting emphasised the commitment of the intelligence and security sector to even more determinedly oppose organised criminal groups.

In addition to members of the Bureau, the session was attended by the Supreme State Prosecutor, Chief Special Prosecutor and the Head of the Criminal Police Department.
