PM Marković hosts Ambassador Feeney: Montenegro interested in Australia's environmental protection experience

Podgorica, Montenegro (4 July 2018) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković hosted a farewell visity by non-resident Ambassador of Australia to Montenegro Julia Feeney.

He thanked Ambassador Feeney for her four-year engagement with strengthening bilateral ties between Montenegro and Australia.

The two officials voiced mutual satisfaction with the friendly relations between the two countries, referring in particular to the need to intensify political contacts and further promote mutually beneficial cooperation, primarily in the economy sector. Prime Minister Marković pointed to the successful business operations of the Australian business people in Montenegro, who contribute to the positive perception of both Montenegro and Australia, which should set an example to future potential Australian investors. 

The meeting also presented possibilities for cooperation in the field of environmental protection, since Australia has a great experience in that area, and Montenegro expects the opening of Chapter 27 - Environment and Climate Change.

Prime Minister Marković informed the Australian Ambassador about the activities and actualities of Montenegro's negotiation process with the EU. Ambassador Feeney congratulated Montenegro on its membership in NATO, which is very important in the context of peace and overall stability, and creates additional opportunities for enhancing cooperation, given the fact that Australia is an important and active partner of the Alliance. She also welcomed the success Montenegro has achieved in the process of joining the EU.
