Minister Šehović in Berlin: Strengthening vocational education is one of Ministry's priorities
Strengthening vocational education as the primary way of connecting the education system to the market is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Education, Minister Damir Šehović said today in Berlin. Šehović, at the invitation of the Minister of Education and Research of Germany, participates in the conference "New Dynamics of Technical and Vocational Education in the Western Balkans", which was held from 2 to 4 July in Berlin.
The priority of the conference is to support the development of vocational education. As noted by Šehovic, the Ministry of Education recognised the importance of vocational education as response to the needs of the labour market of Montenegro, and in accordance with that, for the second consecutive year, conducted a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of vocational education and enrollment in vocational schools. In addition, during the previous year, enrollment in third-level programmes has been increased, a dual education system has been launched, and 15 new subject programmes for secondary vocational schools have been implemented.
The Conference organised visits to the Secondary School of Vocational Education in Berlin, the ABB Private Training Center, the Inter-company Vocational Training Centre, the Centre for the Development of Mathematical and Computer Programmes and the largest private university recognised by the state, during which the participants learnt how vocational education is conducted in the relevant institutions of the Federal Republic of Germany.
In 2014, Germany launched the Berlin Process in order to strengthen regional cooperation for the Western Balkan region, as well as the integration of the Western Balkan countries into the European Union.
