Chief Negotiator Drljević takes part in session of Committee on European Integration

Chief Negotiator Aleksandar Drljević took part today in the work of the 22nd and 23rd session of the Committee on European Integration, which discussed and adopted various information from the negotiation process.
The Chief Negotiator informed the members of the Committee about the organisation and work of the Office for EU Integration. He emphasised that, taking into account good comparative experiences and challenges from the previous process, the Office was organised in such a way that the obligations and needs of the coordination of EU funds and the accession process were met.
He also presented the Eighth Semiannual Report on the overall activities in the process of integration of Montenegro into the European Union for the period July - December 2017, the Sixteenth Quarterly Report on the overall activities in the process of integration of Montenegro into the European Union for the period October - December 2017, Report on the Implementation of the Montenegro Accession Programme to the European Union 2017 - 2018, the Sixth Semiannual Report on the Implementation of the Action Plan for the Negotiating Chapter 23 - Judiciary and Fundamental Rights for the period July-December 2017, with the Third Semiannual Report on the implementation of the Operational Document for the Prevention of Corruption and the Sixth Semiannual Report on the Implementation of the Action Plan for the Negotiating Chapter 24 - Justice, Freedom and Security for the period July - December 2017.
Drljević said that the previous period marked an intensive work on fulfilling obligations from the negotiation process, which resulted in 31 open chapters and the readiness to open the remaining two, Chapter 8 - Competition and Chapter 27 - Environment and Climate Change in the near future.
When it comes to the presentation of six semiannual reports on the implementation of the action plans for chapters 23 and 24, Negotiator for these areas Marijana Laković Drašković presented the results that Montenegro achieved in the period July-December 2017. She pointed out that in the coming period the focus will be on the further implementation of obligations in the area of rule of law, in the area of implementation of laws and strengthening of administrative capacities of institutions in charge of their implementation.
Committee Chairman Adrijan Vuksanović expressed his satisfaction with the information provided on the political and technical aspects of the negotiation process, as well as the constructive exchange of views that Committee members had with the Chief Negotiator in relation to the agenda items.
