Montenegro is very successful in participating in the Mechanism of Cooperation between the People's Republic of China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe (16 + 1) and already has benefits, Prime Minister Duško Marković said in a press statement at the end of the official part of the Summit in Sofia, which he rated as very successful.

This is another important event after a number of previous important political events that took place this year, in which Montenegro participated. All this is aimed at improving the economy of the region, providing a higher level of stability, and thus prosperity for the entire region, as well as for Montenegro, Prime Minister Marković said.

Speaking about concrete projects, he said that a project of the century was started through this Mechanism - the construction of the motorway. At the same time, there is also a possibility of connecting the Bar - Belgrade - Budapest railroad, thus giving a special importance to the Port of Bar as an undeniable economic and development potential of Montenegro.

The Prime Minister stressed that cooperation with China is very important for the EU-China partnership, especially considering that it is often said that this Mechanism can contribute to some major problems or divisions in Europe. As he said, this was discussed at today's Summit, and he also referred to the words of the Prime Minister of China that this is a Mechanism that should provide new energy and incentives, and greater opportunities for Europe.

This was a very successful Summit. Montenegro already has serious benefits. Today, we were also able to witness the signing of the Financing Agreement, i.e. loan with the Chinese Bank to support the Investment and Development Fund in the development of small and medium enterprises, which is one of the key policies of the Government. So, I am very satisfied, Prime Minister Marković said.

Answering the journalists' question whether he expects that bilateral meetings today in Sofia will reach a concrete agreement on the construction of other sections of the motorway, the Prime Minister said that the Government wants to continue building the next section through the model of private - public partnerships. He talked about this with the Prime Minister of China earlier, and they will discuss this issue at today's meeting.

Of course, we will also discuss other spheres of interests of serious Chinese companies in other sectors, primarily energy, and I expect positive results. We are continuing with these projects and the construction of the motorway, and we will see who will be our partner, the Prime Minister concluded.
