PM Marković at London Summit calls German Chancellor Merkel to support Montenegrin initiative for Regional Institute for Sustainable Technologies

Prime Minister Duško Marković called on German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the London Summit today to support the Montenegrin idea of establishing a regional institute for sustainable technologies.

The distinguished Chancellor has opened an important question: how to keep young people in the Region, how to keep those intellectuals and how to give them a new opportunity. I remind you Chancellor Merkel that Montenegro and CERN (European Organisation for Nuclear Research) have launched an initiative for establishment of international institute for sustainable technologies in the region. The initiative was supported by a significant number of countries. We should give the opportunity to thousands of young people in the region. I invite you and your Government to support this initiative, as I recently asked Andrej Plenković and the Croatian Government to support this project, Prime Minister Duško Marković said at the last conference held at the London Summit today.

Speaking about security, PM Marković said that it is important for the Balkan region to strengthen this aspect. He specified that Montenegro has a border agreement with Bosnia and Herzegovina and that our country has carefully dealt with the situation caused by Kosovo's inability to ratify the border agreement in the parliament.

We have an excellent interim border agreement with Croatia. So far, we have not had an incident, and Croatia is the biggest promoter of our European and Euro-Atlantic integration. We have also created the ability to oppose the third party, the Prime Minister said, referring to the external attack on Montenegro several years ago.

I thank Prime Minister Theresa May and her Government for allowing us to respond to this challenge in a quality manner and that our European and Euro-Atlantic perspectives will not be questioned, Prime Minister Duško Marković said at the last session of the London Summit.
