PM Marković offers condolences to Alfandari family, Jewish Community: Jasa contributes to multireligious harmony in Montenegro and region

Podgorica, Montenegro (12 July 2018) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković offered condolences on behalf of the Government and in his own name to the family of the deceased President of the Jewish Community of Montenegro Jasa Alfandari and the Jewish Community of Montenegro.

"Truly devoted to the idea of peace, tolerance and respect for human rights, Jasa was contributing to the multireligious harmony in Montenegro and the region on a daily basis. He was close to you, and important and loyal to our democratic society. ‘I am too small to be able to decide what is right and what is wrong. Our entire religion is conceived on the principle of freedom,’ he used to say. Therefore, today, when Montenegro is saying goodbye to its friend, and the Jewish Community of Montenegro to its founder, we remain obliged to jointly, remembering the great man and humanists, continue his mission of preserving the idea of freedom and tolerance as the fundamental civilisation values," the Prime Minister’s telegram of condolences reads.
