Prime Minister Duško Marković said during today's Prime Minister's Questions session that everyone will have to enter the process of legalization of illegal facilities and that the Government stands behind this project with its credibility.

I cannot accept that it is better not to do anything, the Prime Minister said, adding that it would be easier for the Government to do nothing regarding this issue.

But the environment, as the greatest Montenegrin value and potential, would be further jeopardized. We, as a responsible Government, started to solve this issue as well as planning issues because we have this situation now. ... We see the ruined and destroyed environment with the naked eye without the possibility of being mitigated, the Prime Minister said, stating that such a situation is present in all three of our regions.

The Prime Minister said that the Government is determined to solve this issue.

This does not mean that we should demolish everything without forgiving anyone anything but legalizing and bringing into the legal state those objects that do not endanger the capital development, i.e. infrastructure development. Facilities that are not on this route can be legalized if legal requirements are met. ... Everyone will have to enter the process of legalization, everyone, and those who haven't done it yet. Those who won't, will bear the negative consequences. ... We have to change the state and practices and the way of attitude towards state goods. If this fails, you will not see us in this room, you will see someone else because we failed, because we are incompetent and we are not able to lead the country, Prime Minister Duško Marković said.

The Prime Minister said that it is beyond doubt that we have approached the international standards by adopting this Law, and obviously contributed to the rationalization of procedures in this important area.

According to the data of the Real Estate Directorate there are about 40,000 illegal facilities built in Montenegro, according to the data based on the case study, and according to the information available to the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism this number is significantly larger and it goes up to 100,000 facilities.

The Prime Minister said that tens of thousands of requests have been submitted to the local governments. Most requests were submitted in Podgorica, Bar, Herceg Novi, Budva and Ulcinj, the Prime Minister said, answering the question of the Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Genci Nimanbegu.
