PM Marković meets with COELA members: EU integration is political priority of Government, we want Montenegro in EU and we are able to achieve this goal

Prime Minister Duško Marković hosted members of the COELA - Working Group of the Council of the European Union - led by representative of Austria Andreas Brandstätter, who began a several-day working visit to Montenegro.

Informing the representatives of the Working Group in charge of the EU enlargement process and its relations with candidate countries about the Government's political priorities, the Prime Minister said that the implementation of the European Reform Agenda is the main political goal of the Government, noting that development, resource valorization, creating new jobs and raising the standard of living of citizens are economic goals.

We are grateful to the European Union on the Enlargement Strategy because it gives us the opportunity to achieve our vision - Montenegro in the European Union. We in Montenegro want to use this opportunity, and we are able to achieve this goal. That is why we need an intense dialogue with the European Union and therefore I am grateful for your interest in Montenegro, PM Marković said.

Speaking about Montenegro's European integration process, the Prime Minister informed the representatives of COELA about the changes in the negotiating structure and announced more intensive involvement of the civil sector in the process.

The Prime Minister introduced the members of the COELA Working Group with impressive economic results of the Government in 2017 and 2018, as well as the fact that investments worth billions of euros are being made in Montenegro at this moment.

Representatives of the Working Group, consisted of permanent representatives of the EU Member States in Brussels, stressed that Montenegro is the frontrunner in the negotiation process with the EU, and welcomed the Government's commitment to the European agenda and the implementation of the necessary reforms and expressed support for individual evaluation of candidate results in accession process.

The meeting was attended by Chief Negotiator for Montenegro's Accession to the EU Aleksandar Drljević and Head of the EU Delegation to Montenegro, Ambassador Aivo Orav.
