PM Marković: Fortieth hotel opened in mandate of this Government confirms that we rolled up sleeves to make best use of our resources

Kotor, Montenegro (19 July 2018) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković opened earlier this evening the 5 star Jadran Iberostar Hotel in Perast, saying that the fact that the 40th hotel has been opened during the Government's mandate shows that the success does not come of its own accord, but that the Government decisively "rolled up its sleeves" in the whole of Montenegro, from Herceg Novi to Žabljak, from Ulcinj to Kolašin, and started making the best use of development potentials.

"We opened the renovated Riviera Hotel Njivice in May this year, which is part of the Iberostar Hotel Group. Today together with the representatives of companies Imobilia and Bellevue, I can tell - friends of Montenegro - I am attending the opening of another hotel that will operate as part of this hotel group. I am particularly pleased to congratulate the investors on the implementation of the Jadran Iberostar Hotel project. And this is also the 40th hotel that we have opened in the mandate of this Government (33 in 2017 and 7 in 2018)," said Prime Minister Duško Marković.

He pointed out that the new hotel in the former Smekja Palace is not just an investment, but an example of how inherited wealth is turned into a common good and a contribution to the common interest.

The Prime Minister noted that Montenegro keeps its place as a representative destination on the Adriatic.

"Apart from the determination of the Government to provide all the preconditions for increasing investments and tourism development, renowned world hotel brands such as Amana, Ramada, Karisma, Iberostar, Sheraton, Regent and Hilton stand behind these results. But the fact is that they have already been contracted and are building or renovating hotels that will be managed the One & Only (the first one in Europe), Falksteiner, Ritz-Carlton and Chedi. Therefore, it is the Government's obligation to encourage and ensure the development of high-quality energy infrastructure, develop airports and build roads," said the Prime Minister, adding that the incentive was also given at the recent summit in London, which, within the Investment Framework for the Western Balkans, decided to grant non-refundable financial support to the Budva bypass project as a part of the Adriatic-Ionian motorway amounting to EUR 42.1 million.

"After the implementation of such projects, economic growth and tourism records will not be a temporary but a constant trend and a characteristic of the developed Montenegro! We are aware that success does not come of its own accord. That is why we have decidedly "rolled up our sleeves" to begin valorising important development potentials throughout Montenegro, from Herceg Novi to Zabljak, from Ulcinj to Kolašin. We are proud of the fact that we already have significant results regarding the motorway project, the development of ski centres in the north, the projects of local infrastructure, and that we have raised the level of compliance with deadlines," concluded Prime Minister Duško Marković, who, together with founder of Iberostar Miguel Fluxa Rosssello and owner of Bellevue Brano Ćupić opened the Jadran Iberostar Hotel in Perast.
