 The communal police in some municipalities do not provide assistance to the competent inspection authorities, which is why these authorities are not able to perform their duties – it was stated today at the regular meeting of Prime Minister Duško Marković with the heads of inspection authorities.

Given that the work of the communal police is not within the competence of the Government but the local self-governments, it was decided at the meeting to call presidents of municipalities – especially in the Coastal region, where all inspection capacities were engaged in the tourist season – to undertake measures within their jurisdiction in order to enable timely and lawful support to inspections. It was emphasised that some of these municipalities are also tax debtors and do not regularly fulfill their obligations.

The meeting noted that, in addition to the growth of the Montenegrin economy, the growth of budget revenues was also recorded in the first half of the year, that all competent authorities fulfilled or exceeded projected revenues, and that the only field in which the plan was not reached was the income from excise taxes on tobacco products.

In June, the Tax Administration recorded a revenue of EUR 87,305,000 instead of planned EUR 72 million, with all revenues in the first six months of this year showing a trend of growth. In the first half of the year, the Tax Administration collected EUR 36.5 million more than it was planned, i.e. EUR 57 million more than in the same period of 2017.

In the first half of the year, the Customs Administration recorded gross income of EUR 345,920,542.26, which is EUR 35,677,978.24 more than in the same period of 2017. It was noted that some local governments increased tax debt and that certain companies did not regularly fulfill their obligations towards the state. In that sense it was noted that it was necessary to take measures to ensure that the obligations were regularly fulfilled.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Political System, Interior and Foreign Policy and Minister of Justice Zoran Pažin, Minister of Finance Darko Radunović and Minister of Economy Dragica Sekulić, as well as Director of Tax Administration Miomir M. Mugoša, Director of Customs Administration Vladan Joković and Director of Administration for Inspection Affairs Alija Košuta and associates.
