Minister Janović: Awards for athlets will be leading ones in region
The money premiums for sports results in the most prestigious competitions will be one of the leading ones in the region and unlike previous laws, when the premiums are paid to the federations, they will now be paid directly to the athlete's account, Minister of Sport Nikola Janović said at a press conference today.
This is an obligation from the new Law on Sports, which, Minister Janović reminded, the Assembly adopted at the end of June this year.
The Minister emphasised that the premiums will be allocated for the first time to both the national team coach and the national coach of the national team in individual sports.
"Bearing in mind that the act also specifies the amount of life-long monthly fees, I will remind that we are the only state in the region and beyond which has displaced the age limit for life benefits for 35 years precisely in order to affirm the already achieved results with Montenegro, but also the motivation of our athletes achieving new top results "- Minister Janović said and assessed that special attention was paid to our young athletes through the introduction of the status of a promising athlete for the results achieved at the world and European championships in the younger categories.
"By granting this status, young athletes gain the right to a one-year scholarship from the Ministry of Sport, which is a proof that the state recognizes and validates their results, and at the same time strengthens the cult of belonging to the Montenegrin national team." - Sport Minister Nikola Janović concluded.
