Minister Hrapović:State of hospital Meljine requires urgent resolution of problem and we will define proposals for measures
At yesterday's session, the Government of Montenegro reviewed the current situation in the General Hospital Meljine.
Health Minister Kenan Hrapović told a press conference today that the situation at the Meljine hospital is serious and that the government has a clear view on the necessary and quick reaction, and that in the coming days concrete proposals of measures will be defined.
"The government has a clear position that the seriousness of the situation and the financial situation in which the hospital is located requires urgent resolution of the problem and in the coming days we will define concrete proposals of measures" - the Minister of Health Kenan Hrapović pointed out.
The Minister Hrapović stressed that there were problems in front of Hospital Meljine that jeopardised her overall functioning and added: "The problems are the result of disregard of contractual obligations by the owner of the hospital, primarily to the employees in this institution, and then to the citizens of Herceg Novi. Employees who professionally perform their duties and nurture the acquired reputation of the hospital have not received earnings for four months, yet they consistently remain in a quality worker course.''
Unpaid taxes and contributions, and accumulated debts to suppliers, have so far not been an obstacle for every citizen and traveler's destination in Herceg Novi to receive a health service at the Meljine hospital. "
The Minister Hrapović reminded that the need for functioning of this institution that faces major challenges in the healthcare system is unquestionable.
"We agreed that it is an unquestionable need for the existence and normal functioning of this institution in the health system. Providing accessible and continuous health care for the citizens of the Herceg Novi municipality as well as tourists staying in this part of Montenegro is a public interest in the field of providing health care services that we need to protect. "- Health Minister Kenan Hrapović concluded at a press conference.
