At yesterday's 87th session, the Montenegrin Cabinet adopted the Draft of the new National Security Strategy, the most important state strategic document that regulates the security and defence system.

Minister of Defence Predgrad Bošković said at today's press conference that the reasons for the adoption of the Strategy are focused primarily on the extremely changed security framework and stressed that the new Security Strategy defines a completely new security system.

It's been ten years since the last National Security Strategy was adopted. The second reason is the extremely changed security framework, and thirdly the full membership of Montenegro in NATO, which required a completely new definition of security from individual to collective. This Strategy defines a completely new security system, Minister Bošković said.

He pointed out that the Strategy defines three key interests of security, i.e. vital, strategic and important interests, and stressed that the document identifies the risks and possible threats.

Minister Bošković said that the bearers, i.e. bodies that are supposed to provide the fullest possible security for the state and every citizen of Montenegro are also defined.
