The plan for the revitalization of the electricity network, worth EUR 81.6 million, will enable every citizen, secure and high-quality power supply, Minister of Economy Dragica Sekulić said.

At yesterday's session, the Montenegrin Cabinet adopted the Plan of activity of revitalization of medium-voltage and low-voltage electricity network in distribution system 2019-2021.

"Every citizen who regularly pays bills for consumed electricity is entitled to safe and high-quality power supply. Economic growth in Montenegro last year was 4.3%, and in the first quarter of this year it is 4.5% and must be accompanied by appropriate infrastructure," Minister Sekulić said.

Bearing in mind the given facts, the initiative of a comprehensive revitalization of the distribution network in Montenegro was initiated and the Montenegrin Power Distribution System (CEDIS) forwarded the investment plan for the next three years.

The Minister said that investment of more than EUR 32 million is planned for the revitalization of the medium-voltage and low-voltage networks in 2019. This investment, as she explained, will not be reflected in the increase in tariffs for electricity distribution.

The Energy Regulatory Agency of Montenegro (RAE) should confirm the investment plan in August.

"Following the adoption of the plan by the RAE, CEDIS will begin preparing the tender documentation in order to start implementation of such an ambitious investment plan at the beginning of 2019," Minister Sekulić said.
