In addition to all challenges, Montenegro has maintained a leading position in the negotiations with the European Union, and the fulfillment of obligations from the European agenda will remain a priority for the Montenegrin administration, the Chief Negotiator Aleksandar Drljevic said at the 15th session of the Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee between the EU and Montenegro (SAPC).

Addressing the Montenegrin and European Parliament MPs, Drljevic reminded that SAPC is one of the key parameters of successful and quality cooperation between Montenegro and the EU, especially in the segment of parliamentary dialogue within the framework of the stabilization and association process.

He stated that the new institutional framework for conducting the negotiations and the establishment of the European Integration Office is a clear indicator of the responsibility and full commitment of the Government of Montenegro to the adoption of European standards and values, as well as creating a better life and a safer future for the citizens of Montenegro. "Bearing in mind the current phase of the negotiation process, it is clear that a serious job is ahead of this team, where the key part is the cooperation of all actors. Fulfilling the obligations from the European agenda is a priority of all segments of the state administration", Drljevic said.

He pointed out that Montenegro is currently the most advanced country in the region in the negotiation process, with 31 of the 33 chapters opened and temporarily closed negotiations in three chapters, whereas it is governed by the quality of reforms in the accession process rather than the swiftness, with the expectation that its progress will be evaluated according to the results.

According to him, the implementation of the necessary reforms, both in the area of the rule of law and economic and financial stability, stimulating the growth and development of Montenegro, represents the confirmation of the European orientation of Montenegro. "We have shown that political stability, economic criteria and a constructive role in the region, in addition to all the challenges, have made us keep our leadership position in the negotiations," Chief Negotiator Drljevic added.

He said that Montenegro is ready for a strong step forward when it comes to the quality of the overall integration process and completion of reforms that will lead our country to the EU.
