The newly-elected Montenegro’s Chief negotiator with the European Union, Aleksandar Drljević, said that the priority would be to continue reforms with stronger intensity in order to meet the standards for our country's entry into the EU.
“Montenegro has implemented numerous reforms, it is recognized through the report of the European Commission, but there are identified specific areas in which we need to focus more and further intensify the implementation of reforms, in order to bring them to the end and enable that Montenegro becomes a full member, whose citizens enjoy the benefits of the Union”, said Drljević to TVCG.
He pointed out that the areas where the European Commission Report put a special focus on strengthening the rule of law, combating corruption and organized crime, as well as strengthening administrative capacities and introducing certain procedures.
Drljević said that 2018 could be called as “European Year” and stressed the importance of the summit in Sofia.
“After 15 years, the Western Balkans have been in the focus of the EU. We had one of the highest officials of the member states and the Western Balkans at one place, which is a good signal to continue with our European path”, he said.
